Ronald Walsworth is a professor at the University of Maryland (UMD).  He is also the Founding Director of the Quantum Technology Center (QTC) at UMD, which focuses on the development and translational applications of quantum science, as well as education of the quantum technology workforce.  Walsworth leads an interdisciplinary research group that develops precision measurement tools for applications across the physical and life sciences.  He has advised over 100 students and postdoctoral researchers, published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and co-founded several technology companies.  He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS); served as a Distinguishing Traveling Lecturer for the APS Division of Laser Science; and received the Francis M. Pipkin Award from the APS, as well as the NASA Group Achievement Award.
